John Hancock Charter School believes that parental involvement is critical to a child's overall success. As a result, we request 40 volunteer hours per year per family and 20 hours a year for single parents. Volunteer options vary according to the needs of the school, teacher and the skills and talents of the parents. Please refer to the PTO, your child's teacher or Mrs. Adamic for volunteer opportunities.
Current Volunteer Opportunities:
Thank you for all of you who help make JHCS a great school for our students! We are currently in need of some volunteers to help us put on some events and help with other needs at the school. Please take special note the requests with stars. These events can only happen if we have your volunteer support. Please sign up on VolunteerSpot or contact Christine George at firstname.lastname@example.org to volunteer.
Reminder: You must have your volunteer hours completed in order to receive sibling preference for admission in the fall. This is important for all upcoming kindergarten students. Call the school if you need help reaching your volunteer hours.
**Dance Festival - we need a parent volunteer to organize this event and several parent volunteers to teach dances to the children. Sign up at Volunteer Spot: http://vols.pt/zUcqEM
In the past John Hancock has put on a Dance Festival in May where all students perform dances for their parents and fellow students. These dances were originally taught by a PE teacher who loved dance and created the event for the school. A few years ago the PE teacher left the school but a few parents and teachers carried on the tradition. If we would like to have a Dance Festival this year, we need a volunteer who is willing to organize this event and some parents and/or teachers who are willing to teach a dance.
**School Carnival in October - We need someone to head up or co-chair the school carnival in the fall. This can mostly be done from home by contacting individuals and companies to come to the carnival and purchasing supplies online. We are planning on doing the same theme as last year so a lot of the information you need is readily available. Sign up now on Volunteer Spot: http://vols.pt/1sgC8M
Battle of the Books - Come to our PTO meeting with Mrs. Decker the librarian on February 12th at 2:15pm to find out how you can be involved! Or email Erika Nelson email@example.com if you are unable to attend the meeting. Sign up now on Volunteer Spot : http://vols.pt/aoQSwi
Uniform Exchange - We need someone to be in charge of organizing the uniform exchange. This is a super flexible job that can be done on your own time. Just come to the school and organize uniforms! We also usually have a uniform exchange donation/collection at the end of the year. Sign up now on Volunteer Spot: http://vols.pt/adCqy7
Fat Boys Fundraising Coordinator - We have done this fundraiser for years and have the process down pretty well. You would be in charge of helping set dates and contacting Fat Boys to set up the fundraiser. You will also collect orders and submit them. Sign up now on Volunteer Spot: http://vols.pt/nJT93G
Thank you in advance for your support!
