How Are Donations Used?

Your tax deductible donation helps ensure that we continue to provide a first-class education for our students. Find out how your donations provide invaluable educational experiences for our students.

Technology

Staying current on new technology is very expensive. Last year the PTO fundraiser allowed us to buy document cameras for classrooms and a subscription to BrainPop when the school went remote last spring.

Field Trips

We want to provide our students opportunities to attend field trips. Field trips provide students valuable life experiences. This year, the PTO has already approved requests for two field trips.

Orchestra

JHCS provides strings instruction to all K-6th grade students. This is a very expensive program requiring purchasing and repairing violins, violas, cellos and bass instruments. It also requires purchasing music and renting facilities for our performances. The music program is the single largest recipient of PTO donation funds. Last year, PTO funds bought more violins for our orchestra, new storage for our instruments and provided for instrument upkeep.

Reading Month

For a whole month in the school year, we celebrate reading and encourage students to read even more than they already do. The past few years our school has transformed into Hogwarts as grades compete against each other to read the most, thanks to hard work from our PTO members and donation funds.

Teacher Appreciation Week

Our teachers are rated the best in the area, and we love them! Throughout the year, the Teacher Appreciation Committee helps us acknowledge all the hard work put in by the teachers and staff of JHCS.

Art and P.E.

PTO funds help provide supplies for our art classes and P.E.

Additional uses for donations to the school:

STEM

We want to focus on the science, technology, engineering and math as these subjects are in demand in our current work place. We are hoping to provide our students with an engineering curriculum which will require materials and teacher training.

New Facility

We are actively seeking donations to help us build a new building! We offer a great education but a new facility will provide us with further options we currently do not have.

Character Education/Patriotism

We pride ourselves in preparing our students for life outside of the school walls. We teach our students about patriotism and the importance of being a good citizen. We also teach problem solving and social skills so they succeed in life.

You can also purchase supplies and donate them to the school. General school supplies can be found on Amazon under John Hancock Charter School.

Thank you for your generous donations that make all of this possible.

Testimonials

John Hancock Charter School has been the best school for my kids! This is the eighth year I've been at JHCS and I can say that no other elementary school- charter or not- can provide a better experience, a better team of teachers and staff members, a better curriculum for their students, or a better environment to learn in. Those who are lucky enough to get into John Hancock Charter School feel as if they are part of one big family. The director and Principal of the school- for fifteen years now- has done an outstanding job making John Hancock Charter School one of the best schools in all of Utah!

I love John Hancock Charter School. They have amazing teachers and staff, small class sizes, and really inspire a love for learning. While not the most aesthetically pleasing campus, they use all resources and money to go directly back to help the students which is obviously most important.

Joining JHCS has been one of the best decisions my husband and I have made for our children. They are receiving a top notch education and are growing and flourishing in their schoolwork. What doesn’t show up in their test scores are the extras that make JHCS stellar. The emphasis on a growth mindset and the encouragement to learn beyond the classroom will help them throughout their entire lives.
